Waste Less: A Mobile App for Easy Recycling
Waste Less is a free mobile app developed by the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government. This app provides an easy way to find nearby collection points for recyclable items via a map on your device, including photos, address, recyclable types, and opening hours.
In addition to its primary function, Waste Less offers several other features to encourage and educate the public on proper waste management practices. These include a "Search" function to find the most suitable collection points for recyclable items, "Clean Recycling" to coach users on simple steps to take before recycling, "My Recycling Diary" to track daily recycling efforts, "Knowledge" to showcase good waste reduction and recovery practices, "Recycling Info" to broadcast news about waste management, and a "Share" function to easily share the app's contents.
Waste Less has been updated to incorporate the functions of Mobile Apps Accessibility according to the "Baseline Accessibility Criteria for Government Mobile App" issued by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer.
